High performance computer
Large HardriveOnce you really start producing music you will find yourself saving all sorts of files; from sound packs, saved projects, new programs, to actual MP3's. Over time all of these files will take up space in your hard drive. It's important for a producer to have sufficient storage in their computer. Having a large hard drive will be necessary. A recommended safe bet for hard drive space will probably be 1 Terabyte (1,000 gigabytes). You would most likely not run out of space with a hard drive of that size. With that being said it's not necessary for a hard drive of that size, but highly recommended.

Fast ProcessorAll of the core piecing together of your music will be done on your computer. You will have many instruments and other types of equipment hooked up to your computer at once This means that your computer is going to be doing a lot of work and running several programs at once. To ensure smooth and efficient production you will want to have a computer with a fast and powerful processor. A computer with an Intel Core Processor will give you the fastest and smoothest experience, but these can cost more than other processors. Certain Intel Core Processor's are speedier than others but in general a processor of that sort will deliver you with a quick and smooth experience whilst producing your music.

External MonitorBecause you will have many programs and windows open at once it could get hard to navigate efficiently through them all with just one screen. Having one or more external monitor can be helpful when putting all the pieces of your work together and navigating through different projects and programs. External monitors will extend your display by adding a completely new separate monitor to work on. External monitors are highly recommended and will improve your productivity as a producer. Monitors can be bought anywhere from $100-$2000+ depending on the size and quality.
